Once upon a time there's a chaos called 'UN'....
This chaos called UN is short from Ujian Nasional (National Exam) which is mandatory for every school student in a great country called Indonesia.
Every school student from primary level to secondary and high school must take this UN nightmare before they are declared graduated from the school.
Most people call this UN is a nightmare like no other. Usually the victims from this UN are high school students who is just a step away from entering the real world and start making money if they decide not to go to college or university. Still whether they choose to work straight after high school or continuing their study in University they have to pass this thing called the UN (created by the government).
The UN started at 2005 when the government produce a law about the standardization for national education.
The funny thing is, the ministry of education head by Bambang Sudibyo at the time think that the standardization for the national education must be implemented through this so called UN which apply to all students all across the country.
To all the public and private school. To all the favorite public school or the not so favorite. To all the expensive private school and to the cheaper ones. To all schools with top notch facility and all the schools that is fortunate enough if their roof doesn't fall off.
Well, the program continues anyway. In the name of improving the future generation intelligence then every student in the country must pass this Exam above the grades that is determined by the government.
If any student could not achieve even just a point from that grade than they are free to cry their heart out. And of course the government also give them the freedom choice to be embarrassed.
Okay, maybe its not that bad. Because the gov actually give another option to those who dont pass. They can take a package called paket C which is an equivalency exam for high school certificate.
So no worries people!
Its okay if all your hard works in the last three years in high school dont count.
Because its all for the sake of improving your intelligence.
Its okay if you dont have enough money to take extra lessons in Bimbel or any other course outside your school.
You know what else you can do?
You can always cheat! Oh yes you can!
Dont worry about your teachers catching you cheating. Because in fact they will be the one helping you to cheat.
Yes this is the other brilliant side from UN. Because all that matters is this three days of hell.
All the hard works that the school, teachers and students have done for the last three years will never count for anything! At all !!!
But thanks God, those nightmares are 'almost' over.
The supreme court grant the citizen law suit against the implementation of UN.
The grant by the supreme court emphasizes that the government must no longer hold UN for national exam.
Some would think this is a bad thing. Some will think why would anyone rejecting the idea about improving the quality of our children competencies?
Well, no one here is having anything against that. Its just that the manner of the system is so unfair and just doesnt make any sense if you see the reality on the field as i mentioned before.
How can you expect a student from remote area that has no access to internet, no enough money to have a privat tutoring and probably dont even have the books that they need to pass the exam as well as the more fortunate students in big cities for example?
We must improve the whole education field in this country simply because education is the very foundation for a better nation, a better country.
In order to compete of course the strength of the people needs to be at the highest level.
But this type of UN is definitely not the way to do it.
We must realize that the whole infrastructure must be dealt first. The quality of teachers must be improved.
And one way to improve the teachers quality is of course having them into a certain qualification.
But also dont forget the other thing that is actually the most essential, have we paid enough attention to teachers welfare? Have we given them enough appreciation?
Dont ever dare to dream about education improvement if there is still collapse schools, rare books, and unjust access to knowledge...
So please, dont cry for your school Indonesia..........

French-Ireland controversial world cup qualifiers match
It was 1-1 on aggregate after 32 minutes of normal time when Ireland striker Robbie Keane struck a goal to level the scores. But disaster for Ireland came on the 103 minutes of extra time when William Gallas struck the goal that brings France to qualify for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
The manner of the goal furied the Irish and most football fans around the world.
The controversy started when France striker Thierry Henry committing handsball in the Irish penalty box before passing the ball to William Gallas who then turned it into the winning goal.
This handsball controversy reminds people of the Maradona "Hands of God" incident back in the World Cup 1986 quarter-final between Argentina and England,
To the disebelief of Irish goalkeeper and other Irish players on the field the Swedish referee Martin Hansson actually didn't see the incident and allowing the controversial goal.
After the game the culprit Thierry Henry admitted that he did handle the ball and was seemed sorry for his wrongdoing.
The saga then continues off the field. The Irish National coach Giovanni Trappatoni critizes the referee of making a great mistake. Mr. Trap said the referee could've asked Henry if the striker handled the box inside the six-yard box or not. But then again he also aware that there's no use of critizing the ref since he realized that final outcome will stand.
As expected the Irish FA sent an official complain to FIFA asking for a rematxh of the game. But FIFA rejected the idea.
This issue then took centerstage in both countries Ireland and France.
In Ireland most people say they were robbed by the goal and said Ireland were the better that night and think they deserved a rematch.
As for in France the opinion divided in two. Some French support the idea of a rematch but more of them are saying that the result should stand.
The more interesting opinion actually came from two former Manchester United legends -Roy Keane who is an Irish and Eric Cantona who is a French.
Unlike most Irish, Keane actually blaming the Irish team especially goalkeeper Shay Given and his back four for letting the ball being sent into the Irish penalty box.
Meanwhile for Cantona, showing his sympathy for the Irish team and hate against the French striker Thierry Henry. He said he hates watching Henry sitting after the game on the field besides the Irish defender Richard Dunne trying to cheer him up.
Cantona said, if he were the Irish player then Henry wouldn't be sitting next to him for more than three seconds.
So what now?
From what i'm seeing the result will almost definetely stand.
This result though will be a stain that the French team have to cope with in their conquest of winning the 2010 World Cup.
But still no matter how shameful and embarassed the French are showing they will take it anyway.
Because this kind of incidents happened countless times in football.
And it will happen again and again in the future.
It will never end until FIFA which is the highest authority for foorball federation in the world start to use video evidence in the so called beautiful game.
I don't know know what is the exact reason Sepp Blatter rejecting the idea of video evidence into the game. But i surely hope it's not some lame excuse such as keeping the game 'pure'.
Because everyone around the globe saw the most disgraceful act of how the 'beautiful game' turned 'ugly' and doubtfully pure with sportivity...

Reviewing Stuffs
Many of us want to know if a certain stuff we want to buy or purchase is good enough.
Well, sometimes the best way to find out is asking people we know that have already bought or tried the thing that we want to purchase.
It's the most ancient way of getting a review.
Through this blog i try to review everything or maybe anything that is worth reviewing.
Books, movies, TV Shows, music, sports products, even people.
I will review all kind of things. Like i said, i even will review people hohoho. Yes i will.
I will also review countries, religion, political ideology, even stereotypes. But mind you that this blog will never be racist, sexist or discriminate anything that it reviewed.
Anyone can ask me to review about anything in this world. Ofcourse it's based on my perspectives but with the comparisons of others too.
So i hope this blog can be a helpful for anyone who would like to see a review that at least gives another perspectives on things. Everything that is...
